These route details are a general overview of the route. Detailed maps and route research and planning are necessary for a successful San Juan Haute Route adventure. Summer or winter weather conditions may require you to use the lower Sneffels Traverse Route. You must have the skill sets necessary to make this decision. You should also obtain route descriptions and GPS tracks for the Sneffels Traverse from San Juan Huts.
Day One: Ski into Last Dollar Hut, time and conditions permitting ski some of the chutes around Last Dollar.
Day Two: Last Dollar Hut to North Pole Hut via mount Hayden
Day Three: North Pole Hut to Blue Lakes Hut via Birdland or Little Matterhorn
Day Four: Blue Lakes Hut to Ridgway Hut via Mount Sneffels or Reconnoiter Peak
Day Five: Ridgway Hut to Burn Hut via White House or Corbett Peak
Day Six: Burn Hut out to either Ouray or Miller Mesa

Day One: Last Dollar Pass to North Pole Hut via Han Shan-Hayden ridge
Day Two: North Pole Hut to Blue Lakes Hut via Little Matterhorn
Day Three: Blue Lakes Hut to Ridgway Hut via Mount Sneffels or Blaine Basin
Day Four: Ridgway Hut to Burn Hut via White House and Corbett Peak
Day Five: Burn Hut to Ouray via Oak Creek Trail and End the day at the Ouray Hot Springs.
